Which Infant Formula Is Best?

Eating healthy is a concern for all of us but it is especially important for children. Children need adequate nutrition to help them grow and develop properly. Their little minds and bodies are incredibly delicate and any deficiency in nutrition during their development could have long lasting effects. Putting good thought and effort into their food will undoubtedly pay off in the long run.

When I stopped breastfeeding exclusively, one of the big questions I had for other mothers was "which infant formula is best?". But no one had a clear answer, the answers where presented in different categories based on price, nutrient, liquid and powder based, etc. I wanted to get the best formula for my child, that I was sure had the most nutrient, I didn't think about any thing else.

Now, that I am more aware of the safety concerns out there, if I were to choose an infant formula today, here is what I will ask myself.

Liquid or Powdered Formula? I will say powdered. Bisphenol A leaches from the lining of the aluminium cans that baby formula is distributed in, and it is even present in larger quantities in the ready-to-feed liquid formulas to ensure preservation.Choosing the powdered formula limits your infants' exposure to BPA.

Here are some of the baby formulas available in stores right now and I will guide you into choosing the right formula for your loved one. Please note that all infant formula in the United States meets the same nutrients standard and density, this is ensured by the FDA, however manufacturers vary their formulas, recipe and variety to make their product more attractive. So dont worry if I didn't mention your kind of formula, your child is still getting the amount of nutrient, he or she needs.

1. Enfamil - This is one of my favorite, and the one I use regularly. The only reason this is my number one pick is because they have a wide range of product that grows with your child, they also contain DHA and ARA for your child's brain development. Their product line includes Enfamil, Enfamil Premium, Enfagrow for Toddlers and many more nutrients for breastfeeding mothers like Expecta.
2. Similac - I started my daughter off with Similac but she wasnt too happy with it, however my Goddaughter loves it, so it is also a clear favorite. They also have a wide range of product that contains DHA and ARA for your child's brain development.
3. Parents Choice - I have heard good things about Parents Choice from Walmart. They also meet the FDA standards and actually have the DHA and ARA embedded as well. They do not have product line that grows with your kid, but you can be sure to get those nutrients to your child between birth and 14months.
4. Good Start - This formula is similar to Parents Choice. They have a wide range of products and they also contain DHA and ARA. They meet all FDA standards and moms love it.
